Ed Parker

Grand Master Ed Parker

Ed Parker is regularly referred to as the "Father of American karate". He was born in Hawaii where he first learned traditional Kenpō from William Chow and James Mitosi. He quickly realized that many of the traditional movements would no longer be effective in modern society and applicable to today's real-life self-defense situations, so he set out to create American Kenpo Karate.
